About PayScan America Inc.

PayScan America, Inc. is a source of technology and expertise related to bill payment and other financial applications. PayScan’s patents, which date to 2000, solve major problems related to automated bill payment – enabling the first barcoded bill payment solution suitable for use in U.S. retail checkout lanes.

In October 2008, a partnership with Fiserv was announced, utilizing PayScan® technology to implement a nationwide in-lane bill payment service at mainstream retailers.

PayScan America, Inc. is also a source of technology and expertise to the industry. To contact us directly about matters not related to our Fiserv partnership, use the email links on our contacts page.

History

PayScan America, Inc. was founded by Louis J. Krouse, one of the nation’s foremost authorities on consumer payments. He and the rest of the PayScan America team boast decades of payment processing experience, having built several generations of payment systems (including the first electronic bill payment system at retail, launched in the early 1980s).

Our vision

PayScan® technology enables true retail bill payment – the only practical in-lane technology for integrating in-person bill payments with today’s normal retail experience. PayScan® patented technology lets normal retail checkout scanners read bar-coded bills, to generate and process reliable payment transactions.

Yet bill payments are just a first step. PayScan® technology enables a range of follow-on financial services, all leveraging the same basic idea of automated funds transfers, driven by payments in the checkout lane.

At PayScan America, Inc., we believe that inexpensive payments and related financial services should be available to all consumers, not just to large companies. PayScan® technology returns payment transactions to their original, logical home – the neighborhood marketplace.
